October 2018: Finding the ‘Why’
According to Simon Sinek, finding your why can help in injecting passion in whatever you do – whether it’s in your business, work, or a goal.
As a mom, these are my whys for my fitness journey:
1. Redefine ‘mom bod’
Back in my home country, it’s not uncommon for people to expect a mom or momma-to-be to gain weight and stay that way (when I was pregnant, someone told me that straight on my face). And I wanted to prove that wrong.
I believe moms can both take care of their families and themselves at the same time.
By getting into this journey, I wanted to inspire other moms, that it’s definitely possible to get into the best shape of your life without neglecting your role as a wife and mom.
2. Deal with the everyday challenges
Studies have shown that working out can actually help in improving your energy level and mood. I didn’t believe this until I tried it myself.
As a full time stay-at-home mom, it always seem like work doesn’t end – there’s a pile of dirty clothes to deal with, house to clean, food to prep, a toddler to entertain, etc. It’s tiring and at times, all I wanted to do is take multiple naps a day and eat ice cream. But I notice a significant difference each time I sneak a workout into my day – I feel more energetic even without taking a nap and I feel waaay better in dealing the everyday stress of motherhood.
I don’t always get thrilled at the start of my workout but I always love the feeling after doing it.
These are my two big whys for getting into this fitness journey.
How about you? Woul love to read your whys in the comment section below! 🙂
